Do you need to Grease the U Joint on a 250SX? I was thinking about looking under the rubber boot. After I look inside the boot, do I oil or Grease the U-Joint?

Well the owner's manual say's nothing about the Ujoint or drive shaft. But it does say to put 3.2 ounces or 100cc's of gear oil in the differential.

Anyone know for sure. Since I have mine all apart at the moment now would be a good time to know for sure.

The service manual indicates no grease to the universal joint, but to apply grease to the shaft splines.

Cannot be greased, I've never worn one out that didn't get water in there. Splines get rusty if you don't address the SX's flaws...

OK how do you keep rust off it?

Tear it all apart, file and stone every surface perfectly flat. Put silicone on all mating surfaces and under the boot. Put all new seals in and put the thickest grease possible on all spline surfaces.
