Hey Ronnie,

How does this port job affect the Z's powerband?

I may want to do this to my Z...(will I lose bottom end?)

Is this like Phase I Wrench report porting or Phase II?

If you bevel the big wide oval ports enough the bridge isn't really as necessary was you would think. Its just important that however its beveled is gradual where it doesnt let the ring just jump out and then slam back into the groove.

Nice work Ronnie. Put a stock swinger onyour Z and lets go flat tracking. I'll even let you use my LRD pipe and silencer :naughty:

Tell me about the porting work you do for these Z's. Is it mid range and top end where we see the most improvement?

What happens to the low end?

Thanks!!

ok .......... you know about TRI-Z Power i assume ?? Kinda like Banshee....
NO Bottom , some Mid and then ..... TOP ..... "they" call em the "Light Switch" Power Band (s) ... the Honda ATC-TRX ..."on the other hand" Like Kasey implied.... "why don't you re-sleeve and make the Exhaust WIDER ?????
Because ....... "re-sleeved" Cyl's has NEVER and WILL NOT Run like the Stock O.E.M. Sleeve.. been there ...... done that..
....HONDA Cyl's. are MUCH Different than Yami.... the YAMI Cyl's can be Ported MORE then the Honda Cyl's...
Darius..... on the Porting TRI-Z Thing ....... NO Low end is Lost ....Just BETTER Mid and MORE TOP !!! when you Port a "Honda" ...Low end is Lost BUT.........
Not Noticed !!!

Yes, I love the low end on my Z. its great...much better than the 250r. Seriously I have a stock '86 Z and a stock '86 R. The Tri z is not as quick in the upper mid range BUT the Tri Z kills it on the bottom.

If I can keep the bottom end...I'd love to send you my cylinder.

Thanks for the info!! Would I be crazy to run the stock 32mm Mikuini?

I can vouch for that no low end is lost! it just his like a mother in all gears hence the liteswitch name because it hits instantly and doesnt let off. I had to go up one tooth on the front sproket because 1 and 2 gear were so quick to rev out, and still at that it revs out quick. still possibly could go up another tooth to mellow it out to what a stock bike feels like. A 38mm or bigger carb is a must! phase 2 job is useless with out it! take the 32mm and put it on the shelf and get a flat slide.

One of the things I love about my Z is the gas mileage that I get, even when running flat out for miles on end other guys are always gassing up before I need to even look in my tank. How much will the 38mm make on that? What kind of reliability will you get out of a cylinder that is ported like this? I am almost positive that my Z is on the stock bore, thats about 21 years on one top end, how much more maintenance is a porting job like this compared to stock? I apologize for all the nitpicking but I want to get the best combo.
