Can someone tell me basically how to change the gear oil on a 1984 Honda 200es Big Red? Just some basics would be great. Also, is the gear oil the same thing as the differential fluid???? I hope thats not a stupid question, just trying to learn to be my own mechanic, so I can keep this awesome trike running great for many years to come. Im so glad I found this site. Ive got 2 other friends with trikes as well. At our deer camp, we blow the 4wheeler 4X4's away!!!!! Put the front tire in the mud rut, and wave bye bye to the 4wheeler stuck in the mud!!!!

Best way I've found to drain the gearbox is loosen the 17mm hex bolt on the back of the gearbox then tip the trike up onto the pushbar. (standing straight up) To refill I use Penzoil sae 80w-90 gear oil. While the trike is back on all threes just fill till it starts to overflow (I tilt it up a bit and just add a bit more for good measure) or add about an oz. or so of lucas additive.;)
I change all my fluids after about 8 hours or so of riding time (overkill I know) but my ole honda deserves it. :D
