I was riding my R ealier, the only way to get to trails is by going down the road. keep in mind that I do speed down the road, I take my time. Well this neighbor of ours, who has caused other problems with other people, decided to be an ass to me. I was heading back from the woods and I got to his house, he pulls out in front of me with his lawn mower, and starts yelling and pointing, "Slow the **** down!!!". I was like whatever, slowed down to like 4th gear and putterd down the road. I was in 6th but I was taking my time. Then I look back a ways down the road, he is standing there still yelling at me. I was like whatever and went home. Well then 10:00pm tonight a state popo shows up at my door. So I got asked all these questions is the machine reg. and ins. etc. where was I going, blahblahblah. But he was nice and just told me to stay off the road. I expained my side of the story and he was nice. But Jesus, why did the neighbor have to be such an ass now? After 5 years of riding down the road he has to complain? Whatever.

technically no atvs supposed to be on the road. Just be glad you didn't get it confiscated. here in maryland they would have done they're darndest to take your bike. And if you don't have a title/registered, they'll probably get it and you'll never be able to get it back. least here in MD anyway. lol

ive had the cops at my house numerous times. don't answer their questions and tell them to leave, stand up to your neighbor and tell him to *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* himself

I wouldn't use a lawnmower I would back into you with my truck. Why speed down the road ? I don't blame him. Maybe he has kids that ride their bikes on the road or a wife who pushes a baby carriage. Don't ride like an a hole on the road. Go slow until you get to the trail. I have to ride a 1/4 mile on ther road sometimes to get to a trail but I go slow on my street. Grow up

I guess we're lucky out here in the sticks of North Central Florida... Our county deputies will usually just wave and keep going, occasionally stop and chat.

I imagine with a R being a 2 stroke and all, it probably makes a heck of a racket, and while you don't think your going fast, combine the sound of the exhaust and, how fast is 6th on a R? You were probably going faster than seems reasonable, If it were a silenced 4 stroke, the nieghbor might never had givin you a second thought.
I had the same problem with my dads nieghbor, I rode a 110 down the street to the desert, Im talking 1st gear on a 110 just putting, Well after my dad heard about it he went out and "test ran the motor" in the front yard whenever the nieghbor was home. JIm

And people wonder why we are losing all of our riding areas.

next time try this... wave the cop over first and talk to him nicely. play dum and tell him where your going and what your doing, If it all right to be doing what your doing... 9 times out of 10 they will explain and let you go with no tickets as long as you agree with them.. we all know right from wrong.

i think all people need to mind their own business. you should know better than to speed down the road, but there is no reason your neighbor needed to call the cops. I dont understand why people want to be enemies with their neighbors. some people just need something to *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* about

well here an So GA every farmer has atv's and suck and there all over the place the sherrifs are pretty cool if you stay off the hard roads and keep it to the side, and wear helmets, one time when i was 14 I was crusing around on my polaris down the dirt roads, and at the time we had a asshole that was a deputy that lived down one of the dirt roads, well he came whippin out and arrested me! i was like wtf!? well he got my polaris towed and I went to the sherrifs, well by the time I got there my parents were there with the sherrif ( wich was good freinds with my dad) and he was PISSED, he put the deputy on desk dutie for 6 months and made him pay the tow bill! he said that everyone in this county owns atv's including the farmers who support the sherrif patrole and the next time you take somebody up for riding down a dirt road not causing any trouble you'll be fired!

but I respect my neighbors I creep by there homes (on the dirt rd) slow then open it up onthe long back stretches away from homes and children, I dont ride on anybodys land (unless with permission) all ways ride on the shoulder (on the paved roads)

some people you just cant please

oh well

Our old neighbor strung up barbed wire and broken pipes, in the woods next to us. Wasn't his land either. It belonged to a farmer who's land came right up to ours, and he said we could play around in there. Why our neighbor did that, who knows? Just wanted to be an ass i guess  . Problem is we have 2 little ones...real nice!

How does this guy "know" its you? If your wearing a helmet, going 45+ MPH, and he can't see where you turn into for a driveway, how in the hell is he going to know it was you on that atv, on that road, at that exact time? Just tell the cops it wasn't you and to please tell whoever keeps calling that he should make sure he gets the right person next time. If the cop bothers you tell him to get a warrant to look at the wheeler and if the block is warm it was me. By the time he gets the warrant it'll be cooled down and he won't be ab;e to do anything. I personally have never had a problem on my "toys" and I don't ride slow when I'm going from place to place. I think hes just beening a prick.

In ohio it depends on what town your in. Some towns allow ATV's on the street. Older ppl and what nots that ride around dont hurt anyone. Some towns they are totally banned. I went riding the other day at a buddy's house. There is only a short distance within the town where you'd have to ride on the street, then it's all God's country after that. Anyway while we were gone that day on our ride, another punk-ass moron was razin hell in the town and someone called the law on him. Naturally we had to sneak back to his house because they were stopping everyone on an ATV, wrong-doing or not. One *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**E dited* had to ruin that for everyone. The Irresponsible ones are who they need to punish.

I hear what your saying...I gear way up to keep the noise down. You can do 15-20 in 6th gear.
I've been chased through fields by trucks, followed home, had rocks thrown at me and even once had a rifle pointed at me. When the rifel was pointed at me I was the one calling the cops.:beer
I don't understand why people get so raveing mad. Maybe they are just the type of people that don't understand how to get along with others...And I know it's not the noise either, because the same thing happens with people who have quiet bikes.
What I have always done in the past (even though I really want to do a big burnout on their front lawn) is make sure everything is legal and go about mybusiness as I always have. Take pleasure in pissing these people off legally. It's not you...It's just these types of people who do it to themselves.

That's dangerous. That guy would be in for some very expensive payback if he pulled that crap on me. You gotta be a real nutjob to do something that could potentially cause a very serious injury (or worse) over something so trivial.

As for the wacko the original poster is talking about. This is what I would do. First, go up to his house (NOT on your trike) and in a friendly, neighbor like fashion just introduce yourself and talk to him about it. Ask him why it upset him and address his concerns. If it was speed, then say ok I'll slow it down. If it was noise, make sure your silencer is packed well and go slow past his house (it's really not too much to ask and you should do this out of common courtesy anyway). If he's just a cranky old fart, tell him you'll do your best to keep the speed and noise down but there's no other way to get to the trail and tell him to have a nice day. Odds are good that if you make the gesture and follow through on your promise to keep the speed and noise level as low as you can, he won't keep calling the cops on you even if he says he will.

Kill them with kindness first. If that don't work... well light his truck on fire and shoot his pig.

We should really turn the tables on people like that and report THEM for a change. The cops can't actually do anything if he denies it but a visit from the Police might keep him from doing it again.

Yeah, he was a little weird. They have since moved, probably annoying someone else now. Good news is, our new neighbors have a 250r quad and a YFZ 450. :)
