I may be getting a 85 250R within the week or so, so I want to know what oil to get for it so I can be ready to ride. I know I'm gonna get Klotz, but which one? Dennis Kirk sells the R-50 Synthetic , Benol 2 Cycle Racing Castor, 2 Cycle Super Techniplate Racing Oil, or the BIA Grade Synthetic Techniplate. I'm assuming the R-50, seeing how it is more expensive. I am planning on running it 40:1, or is that to rich for a 250R LC with Klotz?

Im running supertechniplate in mine, I like it it smells kinda fruity and not much smoke!. I took the head off and it had cleaned alot of the old carbon off from the old oil. I run @ 50:1
All the modern synthetics/semi synthetics are excellent oils

Benol is good but with out the sythetic blend that Super Techniplate offers it just doesn't protect as well. I saw real results with the longevity of my cylinders when I switched up to the blend.
Super Techniplate offers best of both worlds with the slight blend they use. Like Sloth mentioned it is low smoke and has a sweet smell. When I switched to this oil I saw good results all around including longer life and better performance.
The only time I will run R50 is when I'm in a pinch. It's good but not any better then Super Techniplate. Actually I've had the best results with the Super Techniplate.
Never tried the BIA stuff so I can't help you with that.

I have a friend using that techniplate stuff. He took the head off after sitting for a month and found RUST.

Why do you say that? Maxima oils cause rust also.
