Hello all my name is Dan and this is my first post. I've gotta 84 200s which ran fine until last summer when I decided to install new rings in the dining room. While I had it tore apart I figured I would go through the carb also (bad idea). The rings took care of all the smoke but the carb hasn't acted very nice since. 1 day of riding and your fouled, the only way it'll run is with the choke in the middle. I need some help on this one Also can I step up to 9" rims for taller tires, if so what would fit. I read alot of the post on here and noticed mostly everyone is into more speed than I am now. This is just to play in the bayous with. Thanx Dan

Well I don't know the answer to your questions, but welcome to the board!

Sounds like you need to go back into the carb. It doesnt take a but a spec of crap to plug an orifice and cause problems as you describe. Running with the choke half on is fouling your plugs and that problem will disappear when it runs with the choke off.

As for tires, there is no need to change to 9" rims for a taller tire. The last number in the tire size determines tire height, i.e. 22", 20" 18" etc. , which are all available for 8" rims.

Thanx I would like to run 25" tires for some of the gumbo mud we have around here, like the raw hides. I just haven't seen them for an 8" rim, the 22" tire is the tallest I've seen. My bro-in-law mas a 200 big red with he 25" raw hides and he just walks away from me, just can't keep up.

LaDano, welcome!! First of all buy a manual! (I like Clymer)www.clymer.com worth its weight in gold! Did you put rebuild kit in or just clean everything up? Did you mess with pilot screw (air/fuel adjustment)? Had same prob on sx,rebuild kit took care of it. As for tires, I think Timsr meant to say, first # designates tire height, middle=width, last gives you rim diameter. Bigger rim just gives you less sidewall, rougher ride I believe. ITP, Kenda, Maxxis, Titan and probably others make 25"mud tires for 8" rims. www.rockymountainatv.com has some good prices on tires or tire/rim combos. Order free cat., lists more options than on site (they also have big ad in ATV ACTION mag.). I have 22x11x8 GBC Mud-Busters on my sx, they push her through about anything! Just ordered set of 22x11x8 Fast-Trekkers on .190 Douglas 10" aluminum rims 8) Hope this helps!

Thanx Al I got the clymer studied it front to back, helped out a lot with the ring job. But that carb has eaten my lunch. Like I said it ran great before the rebuild except for a little miss or hesitation every now and again. Should have left it alone but I always got to tinker with whats not broke. One thing has got me stumped and the good book isn"t that clear there is a little clip in the throttle valve. How is it supposed to lay in position? When I took it apart it was laying at the bottom under the e-clip, that is where I put it back. Don't think it is should be there. As for the wheel & tire combo I understand about the sizes, what I'm looking for is a lerger diameter wheels for taller tires, more ground clearence. Thanx for all the input Dan

Dan, not sure about the carb, maybe someone else can help you with that. I understand about the tires, rockymountainatv.comhas what you want. You can get variety of 25" mud tires (listed above) for your 8" rims or tire/alum or steel (Douglas or ITP,8,9 or10" most appl. in .125,.160,.190) rim combos at decent prices. I ordered combo so I could make quick change if I was going into mud that day.
