i am wondering what sprockets off of other machines will interchange with the 85 350x, also i rebuilt the engine on a honda 185 and it sputters, and revs high, ive cleaned the carb to be spotless, the timing is exact, the valves are adjusted perfectly, so what could be my problem, it isnt sucking air from an intake leak so you can rule that one out, all the seals and gaskets have been replaced so you can rule that one out also, im stumped.

HotRod:
I think the 1985 rear sprocket is just that - nothing else fits it. Same with the bearing carrier - if you switch to the 86 setup (carrier and sprocket and sprocket bolts) you have options such as 300EX - 400EX and I believe 250X sprockets - you have to change the carrier over though. That's what I did.
I have a complete 400ex swingarm on my 85 350x.

So the 86 setup will swap right into the 85 swinger?

no swingarm is different dude
no swingarm is different dudeNo, only the brake stay mount is different. The '86 bearing carrier will swap into the '85 swinger, but you must use the '86 rear sprocket and sprocket bolts.

So the 86 sprocket, will not bolt onto the 85 carrier?
I've asked this a million times, and i get people who say it will, and people who it wont.... any actually have experience with it?
Some say you can just flip over the sprocket..

Some say you can just flip over the sprocket..Yes you can use the '86 rear sprocket and corresponding bolts with the '85 carrier. You cannot however use the '85 sprocket and bolts with the '86 carrier. I have actual experience on this with my build. I had a '85 that I swapped a new billet '86 carrier into and had to use the '86 sprocket and bolts. It has to do with the clearance for the left side of the bearing carrier. The '86 sprocket setup will work with both carriers.

Thankyou, Bkm. I've been waiting for someone who has experience with this subject to give me a serious reply. I apprieciate it. I guess I will be finding some bolts.
Jason.
Jason, if you are still using the '85 carrier I would just stick with the '85 sprocket setup. The bolts are much easier to get a hold of. There is no benefit of the '86 setup over the '85 other than the necessary clearance for the carrier.
