I run Valvoline 10w40 in summer and 10w30 in the winter in my air cooled rides. Surely you're not hearing oil boiling in there, the boiling point of oil is well above what the engine could hold up to. Where is the sound coming from? Is it oil draining down into the bottom of the crankcase?

I wonder if you have water in there. Drain it and put some 10W40 in for the summer.

Boring an engine doesnt mean you change oil BTW.
