1984 200x Auto X Project! (Pics)

Hi guys. I recently had a thread about putting a 200x head on a 200s bottom end, for my 1984 200x chassis. Well, its back together now, and in the bike, and i must say its a pretty cool feeling to know that you and a friend put the thing together. We only have a few things to work on, such as the carb, cause it doesnt want to idle. Also, the bike is pretty dang hard to start without the compression release, which we really didnt think about til after the fact. Probably the most important part though, is that we're not sure how to hook up the rear brakes. Since the normal mount on the 200x is on the motor, and the S isnt, we're kinda caught in a dilemma as to how we're going to get the brakes working. Here are some pics as it has come along!

Do a search and enter "auto x brakes". It's been awhile, but someone on here was making and selling a rear brake pedal assembly for the auto x conversion, and it looked really nice and professional. Good luck with your auto x.

Has anyone in here done the fab job for the Auto X brakes? Im not gonna be riding it till i find out how to do that.

Is that an '86 front fender?

I beliveve that it is a 250r white front fender. Not positive about that though. So nobody knows about them brakes eh? I was thinking of maybe hooking up the clutch cable to the master cyllender to use the rear brakes that way, think it would work?

Do a search for auto X brakes over on 3wheeler.org if noone can help you hear. I believe some folks over there where using a 350x brake pedal and some kind of homemade bracket. Or I think somekind of rear hand brake could be used as well.

I used a 185/200s/es,etc brake pedal, but I took it to school and got it reamed in the machine shop. I can't remember what size it was, either 19, or 20, or 21 or something like that. Just measure the thickness of the bottom footpeg mount. Then all you have to do is persuade the pedal to fit nicely. I needs to be bent a bit to fit right. I just put it in a vise and came right onto it with a rather large hammer. Then, you have to take apart the 200x brake pedal linkage. The long bolt, is too long, and has to either be cut, threaded, or the simple route, take it out, take a bolt, and grind the head down on a bolt the same thread to match the head of the original linkage bolt.
