Well my R made it to the top!!! No re-jetting even needed!!! Even when it was cold at the top (6,200ft) it started in a couple kicks with the twist of the throttle.:w00t:

The ride was spectacular!!! This road brings you very quickly from the base of the maountian (about 500ft) to the summit (6,288ft). Mount Washington is obviously most famous for having "The worste weather in the world". The highest recorded wind speed was recorded here in 1934, 231MPH!!!! In the winter (possibly any season) they can have days of hurricane force winds pounding the summit. Mountwashington.org shows the current conditions and has webcams.

Here's the pics I managed to get with my crappy little camera, I will have MUCH better ones in days to come..... The next time you can ride ATV's up is july 28th by the way....
Ask me any questions you have!:beer :pics:

Creative packing!! Good thing I had a trike!

The infamous cog railway, stripped the pegs one the tour right after the one my father took as a kid. Vast majority of that tour perished.

Awesome dude. Boy do I have some stories about that mountain. definately the meanest mountain in the East. I went up there when I was about 6. I was 70 pounds. Wind was 90 mph. I almost got blown clear off the mountain. Good times. Anyone around the North east. I recommend a trip to mount washington. They even give you a bumper sticker that said I climb mount washington  /// and a casset tape that tells you how to climb it without over heating your breaking and falling off a 3000 foot cliff

Yeah they do. On the way down, even though I stopped a lot to take breaks when I felt my calipers there were crazy hot!!!! I left mu machine off and coated down, I tried to use the hearing to slow me but it just revved the piss out of the engine....

Go up I had to stop a couple times to, once to refill my radiator with all the filling stations they have. It is definatly a workout for the machines though, constant up hill with no breaks....

They use to not maintain the rail system, one of the pegs that sticks out of the rail was bent and the cog on the wheel slipped. Train started sliding backwards and stripped a bunch of the pegs clean off and the train fell off the track. Killed something like 8 people. Happened Sept 6 1967. Tracks went through a major overhaul in 1984.

This is place is open to the public and you can ride ATVs up it? That is bad ass...what about races, like pikes peak? :)

^^^ There is what's called the "mount washington auto road" (google it) and starting this year you have to have a reserved group of 50 or more ATV riders to ride up.

As for the racing, they have running and bycicle races, I'm pretty sure that's it..... about 1/2 of it is pavement anyway so it would suck for ATV's....... Not to mention it's a skinny rode at some places. If I went off the edge today at noon I'd proubly still be tumbling hahaha

**EDIT**
This is the sign you see on the way up there

I remember when I was a kid my grandparents telling me stories about how they used to race automobiles up it in the 40s? lots of people died seeing that the road is not wide and the guard rails are pathetic. Imaging doing about 70mph off of a 3000 foot cliff. This mountain is mean. Not for the weak.

This is very cool... :Bounce :beer

I wonder though 6000+ feet and your carb didn't act up? I say this because the last time I had freinds over riding there was only about 1500 diffrence.. and their bike ran like crap. :wondering Please, post more pics.

Yeah tons..., Washington is part of a range called the presidential mountains. A lot of people hike washington. I would rather hike mt. lafayette though. More challenging. plus when you hike washington, you get up there and you enter a parking lot and you can go buy a hot dog:lol: I'd rather be surrounded by nature if I was hiking personally....

nice write up and good info for us new hampshirites. I drove my car up there a few years ago and when i pulled up to the basin there was a long line of atvs going up. Now this makes sense that a min of 50 is needed.

In a car - it is a white knuckled ride. don't look over the edge, especially when that oncoming escalade or expediton takes 3/4 of the road.

So you can't just pull up with an atv and expect to go up huh. Is it atv clubs only or can anyone organize a ride? Not like i have 50 friends.

i been to the top in a car, never rode a trike or quad. might just have to try and make it for the 28th. not that far of a drive for me at all. you going to be there 250r' en? would have to take the quad though. only bike registered and insured. would love to take the tecate someday, perhaps when shes done. lets get all us new englanders and eastern new yorkers together and do a 3ww northeast ride. there has to be 50 people that could make it.

AHHHH Mt. Washington. Most of my memories are of below 0 skiing across the street at Wildcat in February and wondering "why would I?". My parents have a house in North Conway, so we used to spend quite a bit of time up there skiing in the winter with the occasional summer trip. I actually skied Mt. Washington in the spring one year on the Tuckermans revine run. Pretty cool stuff. 250R'EN+TCB ..... I have the same picture,

Paul- That 50 minimum rule was just put into affect this year, they claim the "aggressive nature" of ATV tires hurts the road, but they will let groups of 50+ go up in the coarse of a couple hours?? WTF??? I went with North Country ATV club.

Scooterroo- No I won't be going July 28, it's a 2 1/2 hour ride for me so once a year is good......hahaha
You would be going with this club on the 28th http://www.nhatv.com/Events/MtWashington.asp as far as i know they are the only other group allowing walk-ins...

To all you new englanders: Next year the NH ATV park in Berlin NH will be opening http://jerichoatvpark.com/ I'm thinking maybe next year around this time we could all meet up at mount washington and piggy back on another ATV group, then we all head up to the brand new ATV park in Berlin for the weekend!!!! Just a thought, lots of advanced..
