View Full Version : 200x Head on a 200s Motor?

Well, thats my question folks. Can it be done? I just recently aquired a 200s motor, and have a 200x topend from my other POS motor in which the case is now bad. Can i put the 200x head on top of the 200s bottom end? When i was looking at the specs page i also noticed that the 200x has a higher compression ratio than the 200s. If i put the 200x head on the 200s, will that give it some more power? Mind you, this will be going into a rolling 200x that i have, all it needs is a motor right now. So anyways, sorry about my rambling, ive been up for quite a while and its 6:00 Am!

Am i going to be getting any performance gains out of it though? Are there any mods i need to do?

nope no mods direct fit and i think u will get somw gains there are bigger valvles i think

As said above, you will get a performance gain.
And yes it is a direct bolt up.
The valves on the 200X are bigger than the 200S.

You might want to use the 200x carb aswell. I doubt the 200 carb and 200x topend would be a good combination...

Valves are excactly the same-30mm. No performance gain but they do interchange OK.

The head will be a direct swap. It alone has the same valves, runners and chamber as the regular 200 motors. The compression difference is in the piston, not the head. If you use the 200X cam, you'll notice the power shift a bit to the mid to top end, but not much.

Hmm, so does that mean that i need to take the piston off of my 200x engine and put it on the S so that i get that 9.2 compression compared to the 7.8? And if so, how am i supposed to go about doing that? I have new rings for the S piston, but would those work for the X piston? Thanks for all your help guys, hopefully i'll be putting it back together tomorrow with the x head on the S bottom! :naughty:

i have the same thing happening, tell me if you notice a difference. some one gave a motor and the bottom is 84 200s and the rest of it is 84 200x. timeing is off, i have to learn how to do the timeing. i want to get mine running.

If you have the cylinder from the 200x use it too. It has larger cooling fins than the 200s.

If you must use a used piston, make sure it is in perfect condition, and then be sure that the bores match, or bore/hone the newer cylinder to match and use new rings.

Yea, my friend and I put the 200x head on top of the 200s, honed the cyllinder, new rings, and everything is on. Now the only problem we have is that the lower cam chain tensioner bolt wont budge! Do you know if its a right or left handed thread. We assumed its a right handed thread, really tried to torque on it, and even used an impact wrench 3 times at 30 seconds each! So now we are kinda sitting and contemplating this whole thing. Anyways, i will post pics on here once its done, thanks again for all your help! =)

Is it ok if we used a used 200x piston? We cleaned it all up, and put new rings on it.....

if your using a 200x cylinder

the 2 main center cases are the same for a 200x and 200s. so that way you can keep he 200x motor.
