I recently inherited an 86 200x atc, I instantly fell in love with it. It's in decent shape but definitely needs some work. I've decided to do a frame up restoration ,I've already found some parts on ebay, but I was wondering if anyone could recomend any other places to find/buy new/used parts.

Thanks , I'm a new guy here....I've ridden quads most of my life, three wheelers only a few times, I currently own an '05 KFX700....and now an '86 200x.:p

let me know what you need and I call tell you what will work on them, performance and stock replacement. There is several different options. I have 5 different model parts on my 86 200x and 85/86 250r might be the next model parts for it(I don't know if it will work out right yet)

Ebay is your best bet. denniskirk.com also. Im pretty sure durablue 82 250r axels will fit if you install them back wards. Brand new 300ex 400ex 450r hubs are the same. Rims/Tires are availible. Maier makes plastic. You can still get an after market seet cover but i highly suggest you PM a guy on here named moshman355 and have him restore your seet. Tank/Shrouds are not available aftermarket or OEM therefore you will have to restore your old ones. Fork Boots are available on ebay(ftermarket). Wiseco makes piston/rings still. DG, and cobra both still make aftermarket exhausts. prmatv.com makes real nice grab bars for the 86 200x. Im not sure about what other shocks will fit it but im sure some others will fit. Aftermarket Bars/Grips are available all over the place. I think moose makes a thumb throttle for a 400ex that fits it. 400EX carb will fit i belive. Brake pads are available. Mainly all this stuff is thru denniskirk.com

Cragster's done his homework a time or two. Another place to look is at a local swap meet. I can't guarantee that you'll find 86-87 parts there because they are a lot less common than the 83-85 models, but you might be surprised. My buddy told me of an 86 that was in really nice shape with a bunch of extras that sold at a swap meet for $500 a few months ago.

Thanks cragster and everyone , like he said you definitely did your homework. I deal with dennis kirk alot , I didn't realize that many new parts were still available. I'm hoping to tear into it this week and get down to exactly what I'll need. I know it still ran good when it was parked like 7 years ago so I'm gonna drain the tank, clean the carb, replace the plug and see if it will start.

I know this is a long way off but ,what about replacement decals, I'd like to make it as close to original as possible. It looks like the tank was repainted once already because there's white paint under the white paint thats chipping off and you can faintly see the outline of the original Honda wing decal on the tank

There's a guy on here that will make the decals for you. What happened to those fenders?

There was a NOS OEM rear fender on ebay. I don't know if it ended or not? Or if it sold.

There's a NOS OEM Kill/Headlight switch on ebay right now.

Well heres the story of this bike, it belonged to my best friend. He bought it in Idaho while he was in the Air Force, around '93/94. He brought it home with him in '99. We rode it at our camp for a few years, his brother wrecked it and made the "field expedient" repairs. The last time we rode it was in '00, thats when it was parked (because we both bougt brand new quads) and it's sat in the same spot at his dads house for the past six years. So to make a long story short, his dad wanted it gone, he did'nt want it, so it now belongs to me, sweet deal..

I saw the OEM plastic...$500's a little steep ...I'm OK with aftermarket, this is gonna be a rider after all, I just want it to look as close to original as I can. I 'll check out the switch though...thanks

Thats awesome. Good work. It didnt take you long at all. It may come out of the smoking the more you run it. :beer

I got a 200s for free and got her started and ran it about a week and its smoking nearly stoped. If i ran it another couple weeks and put some marval mystery oil in it, it probably would have stopped completely...To bad i sold that trike..lol
Heres a pic. Yours was in way better shape than mine.... And BTW this is after i cleaned the trike up

Thanks, it was smoking pretty good though, it doesn't look like it will cost that much to have the top end rebiult, I've been looking around and I figure about $100 in parts and then what ever the machining/labor costs are.
