View Full Version : 86 t3 rear fenders on an 85?

Do they fit?? Is there any modifying that I would have to do?? I was going to buy a set, but dont want to get them and they dont work out :shock: .. Dont really want to buy the 85 maier low pro rears, I dont like the way they look... :?

i've seen pics of 85s with Maier 86/87 Tecate 3 Wheeler Rear Fenders and even a couple with 87/88 Tecate 4 Rear Fenders. The good thing about the maier is that you have to drill the mounting holes, so your open to what trike you fit it on. I think the 84/85 looks awesome with the 86/87 Tecate front and rear fenders on them.

The 86/87 has mounting holes out in the middle of each fender, where as the 84/85 doesnt. The 86/87 maier fenders have a recessed area to drill through. Just don't drill it here. Then, you'll have to cut slots for the seat latch to go through and the mounting holes.

I've never done this switch personally, but some people who post here have. Hopefully they can let you know what other problems there might be if any.

I bought some '86 maier fenders from a guy that was using them on his '85. he just made some cutouts underneath the seat to align with the '85 mounts. couldn't tell the difference with the seat installed.
