250SX Kickstarter repair

My 250SX kickstarter engages once out of about every 5 kicks. Is this a typical failure like on the 200x, or is it something different? Anyone know if new parts are still available for these? How hard is it to fix? It's just one of those things that bugs me. 99 percent of the time I'm going to use the electric starter anyway, but that one day I don't have it, I'll need it.

Oh, and will the SX kick start with a totally dead battery?

The slipping kicker is a failure of the one way clutch. They are about $100 for the parts to replace (or so off of the top of my head).

You can kick start a sx with a dead battery. Like all of the honda trikes, the exitation coil for the spark is seperate from the lighting coil. The lighting coil charges the battery.
