got my yz490 motor today and im verry happy with it!!!, Took it apart and checked it out..looks like its allready ported and has some exaust port work done.boysen reeds, everything is in excellent condition... nice ebay buy!!! Its got a 25 on top of the piston and appears to be a stock one, Does any one know what size it is off hand, Looks good huh billy..:w00t:

hey brian,did you see what chainsaw did to his old drag z? they took the 490 jug,cut it in half and welded a liquid cooled upper portion to it.must have spent some coin.that motor was SICK.the appearence of the engine alone was all polished with little diamond plate scribes all through the engine block.he has sold the motor.to someone on this board.but i dont think i am at liberty to spill the beans.whatever the case,if he shows next year at t.f.o7 and you show with yours,that will be a great match-up.cant wait to see it rip

thats just the camera angel..and it comes off the jug off set to the left.. It does look kinda funky in that pic but i assure you that its fine.

basically it serves as a turbulence simulator to help atomize the fuel better and scavenge all the available fuel charge from the crank case to acheive maximun fuel use and burn.it is nothing new.they were doing it in the late 80s on 2 strokes

Its kinda funny, just the other night I was riding, had a guy come up to me walking his dog when we were taking a break. Turns out he has an old air cooled dirt bike behind his house, all he knows is that its a honda cr and the motor is big. I ask him if it looks kinda like the motor on my 250R as far as the side of the sprocket and and cooling fins and style and all, and he said very similar, just bigger. Turns out its a cr 480, he wants to get rid of it, will trade me for my yz 250 parts bike. cr motor ran last year, shouldnt take much to get it going. So now I'm looking for a rolling air cooled R chassis:naughty:

anyways, just wanted to say thought it was cool that we are both lookin into air cooled drag bike projects. yours will probably be done wayyy before mine, but I would like to have it ready by trikefest, I'll post pics and progress when I get it.

hmmm... if looping serveral bikes up the hill and then kicking your feet out for a few seconds at the top wins hill climb awards then I'm just gonna roll my bike down the hill from the top and then ride it back up with my feet on the rear axel.
I'll win it for sure. You ask brapp, i can make a bike sumersault like no one can and come back for more any day.

course he did it on a four stroke too.....put a zip tie on the throttle and let the bike go it will putter up the hill all on its own.

no not that soon.. I wish tho... hopefully soon as i can so i can run some drags and do some tuneing. right now just trying to get every thing together so i can get stuff beadblasted and powder coated.still got to send parts to ronnie in fla. and then take the bike up to dyno port to have the pipe made. Yes i do plan on going to speedbumps.. just got the swinger back in the mx bike today, changed the oil in both and greased them up, so there ready to go! The ram air filter wont be mounted direct to the carb due to the carb comes out on a angle, Ill be useing the pipe bender to bend a pipe so its mounted directley in the middle where the gas tank mounts.

be forwarned, them $82 bolts on ebay for the z are junk!!:mad: , i bought a set, they are half metric, half american, some of the bolts are a mile long like the shock dong bone and have to be cut to lenth. and a few fell off at tf06, they look nice, but if you ride hard, they will fail!

one day when i get caught up ... i wanna put together a Stainless Bolt Kit..
Front Axel with "seal sleeves",Swinger Bolt with "Cap's,Nut and washer",all pro-link suspension Bolt's,Motor,rear Swinger Housing,Fork's,Motor Mount's , ETC.

This is one of the Kit's i put Together for MyTrikeSucks ..This Kit is Normally 260.00

Nice! I found out that Cycra makes metric bolt kits also. They aren't bike specific, but not bad price wise.

you gots to make sure that the 10mm bolt's are 1.25 pitch ... and NOT 1.5 !!
for the Top Motor Mount,Foot Peg's,Rear Housing,ETC......
everything else you can buy is 1.25 EXCEPT the 10mm .....
i heard that APR Sell's the 12 point 10x1.25 Foot Peg Bolt's ..
Race Car's use these Bolt's because there STRONG !!! 17-4 or Grade 8 !!!

heres the first speedbump in the project.. i orderd all swingarm bearings,seals,bushings for a 86.... well i got a 85 swingarm and there too small! ARGGGGGHHH! so rather than spending over $100 on a new kit, I made one call to HRR raceing and he's sending me out custom made bushings for the swinger.thank god! Ron you are still the man!

What link you talking about? the shock linkage? Do you need to lower the bike? if so you can use a banshee link, they are longer. It lowered mine pretty good but to low for me so i got rid of it.

just got off the phone with dynoport... $500 bucks for a drag pipe made any way i want removeable silencer or built in.. but heres the catch i need to get the bike done and over there before september! because sled season is starting then and they wont be able to do any costom pipes untill late spring time!!!

all of the TRI-Z, Banshee's are done ... i'm waiting on a Machine to make the (HONDA) rear Bolt Washer thicker because it's resest in the peg mount... the hex i used is 3/4 and the rear bolt won't work untill i get them washer's done ... the FIRST Set goes to DOC in Cali. ya i just thru them on to check things out... only one nut on the hubs.. checking for off set on the rims, witch there is none there the same..no off set! Still waiting on my frame and other parts... he told me friday to pick it up then told me to pick it up monday... finally tuesday he told me he would call me when he got home...today i called no answer left a message that i was under the assumption that it was finnished, and told him i needed to get it done before the end of the month to get it to dyno port or no pipe untill late spring! still biteing my toung and starting to get pissed...

i think Banshee is 29mm like the "85" TRI-Z ... the "86" is the 28mm Dia. ones .......Part# HK2220 the Honda ATC's are HK2030'S

they will if you have a 85 swinger.. but you can still get oem ones from yamaha for the 85 & 86 tri z just make shure you have the right year for the swingarm..
