Working on a 1981 Honda 185. It doesn't have any suspension on the front fork. What year and model fork with suspension might work with the 1981 model I have? On a side note, any rear suspension kits out there?
Thanks

for rear suspension you'd have to find a rare aftermarket frame for it. The front end off a 1983 185s might work and that has front suspension

The 83 should fit perfect.

You can always keep your eyes open for one of the aftermarket kits for the front end and the rear. There were 2 types of rears, weld on and bolt on. Many companies made front end kits that had custom triple trees and used dirt bike shocks. Here's a pic of mine to show you what I'm talking about.

Any guess on where I can get the aftermarket kits for the front and rear end? Been trying to find something. By the way vealmonkey, sweet machine.

Thanks for the kind words, I found mine on ebay. I think most of the kits were sold out west. Just keep your fingers crossed and your eyes open. You might even could take the back end off a 200x, not sure though. Some people have used a whole 200x frame. They have nicknamed this conversion an " Auto-X ". I think a few people on here have them or have had them.

Thanks again Vealmonkey. I am keeping my eyes open to see what I can find. Your pics have inspired me to trick out my 185 bigtime. Can you post some more pics of the engine? It is a truly awesome machine.

The engine is stock except for a Supertrapp muffler and different jetting (larger) in the carb, and K&N air filter. The bolt on kit and the weld on kit trikes I have both belonged to members here on the board. The weld on kit, I've never even put an engine in the frame. The weld on kit has an aftermarket front end also and turbo wheels that need some detailing. I kind of like the older style of trikes and the aftermarket frames and such. I think the older custom trikes had more personality. You can also find older frames and conversion kits that you either put street bike engines in a custom frame or the company would sell you the swingarm and front end components that would allow you to turn your street bike into a trike. I have a frame that takes a yamaha rd350 that has a swingarm and monoshock and I've seen a kit that would convert a cb750 into a dune trike. Just keep your eyes open, they are out there. I think the mother lode was found by mymint87 out in California, a whole barn and fenced in area of all the great old aftermarket trikes and goodies. Keep looking, you'll find something. Don't forget about the suspension atc70's either. I have 3 and they are super fun.

what size front tire due you have. i think the 81 185's has 25" tires.

i have a 83 atc 200 that has front forks i'm parting out.

i have a "auto x" also you could come up and take a look at and the front end on the atc 200. the auto x the old 185 engines bolt rite in you just need the 200x exhaust and intake manifold.
