I would like a quieter muffler for my 200x. Right now it has a stock muffler but I think its blown out. Anybody have any ideas on how to make it less noisey?

stock is probably the quietest you'll get for a 4-stroke

I agree with Firehart. My 200x (actually a friends, but it lives here) is louder than all the rest of the machines. What's up with that? I've never cared for loud machines, and I'd rather give up a little performance than have to wear hearing protection. This one doesn't appear to be blown out or anything, but it's still twice as loud as my 200s.

Just take your muffler apart and re-pack it and do all ofthat. It would be well worth it. I bet it hasn't been done in a while. I dont see why you guys are talking bout noise...or i dont know. My 200x is WAY quieter than my old 250R was and probably WAY quieter than how my new 250R is. Maybe i'm just not paying atttention to the noise? I have my idle set pretty low to so maybe thats a factor.

The stock exhaust with the baffle in is about as quiet as it gets

What do you mean by take the muffler apart and repack it? I think the 200x muffler is 1pc, isn't it?

did you try to add the discs on that super trapp?

i have my supertrapp running an open endcap and it's probably the loudest thing i've EVER heard..

but like i said earlier, your stock exhaust is probably about the quietest you're going to get. just take it apart (if you can?) and put new packing in it. (if you can?)

I have a 350x supertrapp on my 86 200x and its pretty loud, I use 10 discs and end cap. I have a open end cap, but it makes too much top end that way. Stock is probably the quietest you will get, I know the stock one on my 200x was so quiet that you could hardly hear it running.

Dammit!

You need to use LESS disks to make a Supertrapp quieter (just for the record). Try running 5 or 6 and see how it sounds. Fewer disks also produce more bottom end power at the sacrifice of top end power. I'm really not sure how few you can get away with before it just starts running bad. They come with 12 when you buy them new. I bought an extra set and ran 18 back on my old one.

yea my disks are all bent and are junk so right now i have a open end cap, i do have the stock exhaust, i like things loud, usually the louder the better, but where i live a loud exhaust isnt proablly a good idea

if you dont have a service manual you need to get one. the end cap comes off of the muffler and the there will be fiberglass wrapping around a perferated tube. remove th fiber glass and wrap new silencer packing around it. before you re-install it, start the engine up and burb the throttle a few times. this will blow out what ever carbon deposites might be in there. once thats done install the insert and end cap and you are done.
