It's been quite a few rides since I built the motor on the SX and just wanted to share the outcome thus far...
This is what I did
Webcam, aggressive grind.
Powroll high compression piston.
Chrome moly heavy duty valve springs.
350X carb with main jet drilled out to .059 thousandths.
No airbox lid and Uni filter.
Cobra exhaust.
OEM valves, timing chain and guides.
Wish I ported the head
If anyone loves the SX and wondered if it was worth the money to spend building the motor, my answer is YES. This thing flat out rips, no sh!t - this is one fast SX. Of course the topend speed is still limited but it gets there incredibly quick. I pull 4th gear wheelies with ease and 5th gear with a little yank on the bars, and thats running 22" tires.
This motor blows the doors off of my 87 SX with a Cobra and 350X carb so I'm certain it's the motor mods that really help out.
