Alright, I need some help...Here's the skinny. I've got a 200e that I love. It's beat to heck but it always starts and its handy to have around. I got a wild hair and decided to get the electric start working. ( I inhereted this about 2 years ago). I hooked up a battery and I could hear it (starter motor) spinning. I assumed it was like a car and that it wasn't popping out and engaging the flywheel. So I ordered one from ebay. Anyhow, now that I've pulled it out, I can see that the flywheel is engaged all the time and that the gear that the starter engages is not spinning the crank. From my searches on here, I gather that there is some kind of clutch or something that can be problematic. Is this correct? And if so, I've pulled the recoil starter and pulled the bolts to take off the left side crank cover. I can't seem to get this thing off. I'm afraid to really crank on it in case it's something else holding it on. Or am I just fighting a stuck gasket? I see some guys on here pimping parts too, anybody have what I need to fix this sucker?

Okay, I got that cover off the gasket. but it won't come the rest of the way. Does the main bolt on the timing gear need to come off before I can get the cover off?

One more try for a little help. Got the stator off...Starter works...gears all look good. They spin the gear that is behind the rotor...somewhere beyond that it is not spinning the engine. Do I keep digging into the left side, or is it time to open up the right side? The recoil start works just fine. I have a manual coming, but I was hoping to get to the root of the problem. I understand there is a one-way clutch, but I'm not sure from me reading that if it's not working the recoil should not work. But I may be incorrect. "Somebody throw me a fricken bone, here."
