Hey all, im new to board and to trikes!!!

a few months ago i went off to buy a truck. We all agreed on the price if only we took the trike along with the truck:beer

anyways its a 82 honda 110, its wasnt running and apart when we picked it up. after changing a few things along with the oil it ran!!! We blasted it around our streets a few days to check if everythign was A-OKAY.

So after everything checked out, we took her to the sand pits. It ran pretty good for what it is untill my brother popped a 90* wheely with it. Of course he fell off. anyways the trike droped back down and it was still running. We turned it off to see if any gas spilled. When i went to pull the pullstart to start it up again IT WOULDNT BUDGE! i took the cover off, the puller worked fine but the engine seems to not wanna budge!

So my question is, could the engine have seized? if so how the heck did it seize! or what could it be? Summer is here and i wanna take her out again!

well its a possibilty because they dont hold much oil ...or there could be excessive oil/gas in the cylinder so take out the sparkplug then try and cank it over

i tried that, the cyl is dry. Yeah im pretty sure i starved it and something jamed up. Anyone got an engine that would fit into an 82 110 chassy?

wait lol...dont jump to conclusions! first try putting oil or wd-40 in the cylinder!
and if that dont work theyre easy to rebuild ..
next try putting it in 3rd gear and towing it behind a car it could unlock it but *Edited**Edited* that take out your sparkplug and put motor oil in the

Sounds kind of funny to me, was it ran quite a while when it was popped up? I once had a old atc 70 that was sitting for some time, I got it runing for about a week and then one day while I was going in 4th gear it started to slow down and just die. The motor was locked up. I figured it was something bad so I put it up in the garage, about 4 weeks later went to check it out and one of the dog ears from the pullstarter had came off and wedged itself between the flywheel and the side cover. Removed it and it fired right back up. So long story short its probably not as bad as it sounds, and like was said early these are really easy to rebuild.

Uhhhhh you serious?? HAHAHA thats one interesting idea...ill...try...it!?

im sure it would be cheaper to buy another engine rather than rebiulding it. talking to local shops around here and they said it wouldnt be worth it, Its a small engine that parts arent around for.

Dude the parts for this motor are plentiful on ebay. Hell I have alot in my own garage, these IMO are the easiest engines to rebuild. No points, put everything in time and go, I doubt it is as major as you think.

when i crank the atc, the head light flickers when its set to the "ON" position.
So there is spark but its not getting the the spark plug.

Would a honda dealer still carry the CDI unit for on of these things?

Check to see if you have a cracked spark plug. I had a ct70 that was running and all of a sudden died. The ceramic inside the plug base cracked and it started arching/shorting on itself. Just somthing simple to overlook.

spec everything out before you buy anything, check every little connection and wire...

the headlight has nothing to do with your spark...pull the plug and hold it to the motor and pull it to see if you have spark

SWIGIN: ive done that, no spark. like i said before i did check it over.

AIR-COOLED-R: interested in selling any of them?

The power for the headlight comes from the stator as does the power for the spark plug, BUT from different coils. So you can easily have power for the light if the lighting coil is good, but no spark if the ignition coil is bad. Check the plug (use a NEW one), plug cap, kill switch etc first.

ive bought 2 new plugs just in case one of them was bad
plug cap is fine
kill switch? you mean the ON-OFF switch located ontop of the light switch? how would i check that?

question, does power go to the cdi then to the ign coil? or other way around? ive asked a friend who also looked over the bike and he also believes its the cdi. But ill try anything at this point after finding out how much a new cdi unit costs for this trike. are dealers  ??

I have a starter coil assembly that goes behind the fly wheel if you need one. i belive it works.
