350x brake caliper question

I ordered all new seals, dust seals, pins, bushings, and pistons for my 350x caliper. I also ordered a new master cylinder so i should be all set.

Only problem is that i cannot remove the pin that the caliper slides on from the caliper. its the one that has threads on it for the nut so you can bolt the holder and caliper together.

ive tried head, screwing the nut on and using an impact, which just stripped the threads on teh nut. Any help would be much appreicated.

I'm not familiar with the 350x caliper but are you saying that the nut holding it on is frozen and won't move or the pin is frozen in there?

I'm just partway through rebuilding a 350X caliper, I'm documenting the whole lot so I can put together an article on how to, It sounds to me like you are attacking the wrong bolt, the bolt that holds the caliper to the bracket and acts as a slider has an allen headed part at the top and screws in to the bracket, you most probably wont get this slide bolt out easily, you will have to gently heat the caliper and the bracket and slowly work it to get it out. Once you remove the slide bolt the caliper should come away from the bracket.

its the pin that sits in the caliper. one side is threaded and that nut bolts onto it to hold the caliper bracket (bolts to the forks on). (i can get the nut off fine...)

I am trying to get part number 11 out of the caliper body to replace the boot (number 14) and grease the hell out of it. I already have a new number 11 on the way so its no big deal if i trash it.

i just got it out... a pair of vice grips, some heat and some pulling got it done...tons of junk in there

so the piece that i pulled out...there is an oring in there? Are you talking about the front brake caliper? Or the rear brake caliper and the piston rod is part of the parking brake?

On a parts diagram at bikebandit, which number is it? I cant figure out what you are talking about. I have the same problem not being able to bleed my brakes. I bought a brand new master cylinder and am rebuilding the caliper because of it...

john i see that, but the front caliper is different, at least on the 85. There is no piston shaft and i cant see where it would go on thefront caliper. its not that i dont believe you, its just that im lost as all hell as to where it would go

hahah ok...i was like i have no idea where that oring could go...
