New Old Stock means new as in unused an never sold, but has been in stock for a long time. It doesnt mean discontinued. If a dealer found a case of 86 250R brake pads in their old wharehouse that have been there for 15 years, they would be considered NOS, even though they are not discontinued. NOS usually pertains to clearance sale items that a dealer wants to get rid of because they have been on the shelf for years, and not restock. Sometimes they find discontinued items which can be a goldmine. More often its just stuff that nobody wants at list price. This term of "NOS" is misused and abused even more than the words "mint condition".
