hey to anyone whos good with problems : i got an atc 200x 1985, my enigne lost oil and i blew my crank, so i put one from my spare engine, i got a hole new piston kit, gasket kit, new valve seals, i tune it, and it was working, but now its really pissing me off, after 15 min of riding, i really cant hold full throttle, i can only hole like 3/4, then after its only 1/2 then after 1/4 then its too hard to hold it just a bit and it stalls, after that, it will only start on compression, kickstart wont work, i tried to look at everything, my sparkplug looks alright, but i noticed that my carb was really close to my exhaust, i dont know if its the carb boiling the gas and then the gas evaporates, cuz when it stalls, i have to wait 15 min for it to work, i dont if its something to do with carb adjust, i dont know if its getting too much gas or not enough, i dont know whats wrong, and after the all the work and money i put in, i want this trike to work, someone help, email me to ralph_beaudet@hotmail.com , or send me a personal message, plz someone help

check your air filter. i have had a couple trikes that ran like that and it was the air filter.

Start with the basics:
Is the fuel tank clean & is the fuel fresh?
Do you have good flow through the line from the petcock?
Do you have good steady flow when you open the carb drain?
How's the compression?
Have you tried a different plug?
Have you cleaned the carb?
It might be an electrical issue too. Any cracks in the plug wire or boot?
Check the condition of all the wires & connections.
Make sure it's not something simple like the choke malfunctioning or something like that.

Why on a brand new piston after 15 minutes, that you would hold the throttle wide open? Doesn't sound like much of a break in period. Looks like you might be getting another new top end soon, good luck.

what kind of gasket cement did you use on the jug and head ? if silicone based there is a oil return that runs thru the positioning tubes and up around the bolts if this got plugged IT could be that your cam is seizing up from lack of oil I just fixed the nieghbors that was doing this. I only use hi-tach now for gasket cememt !!!

Check you air filter, then the fuel filter. If you still got the in-tank filter, it may be clogged up. If it is pull off the tank, drain it, take that filter out, clean the tank out with diesel, along with some bb's or nuts, then put a inline filter on it. Your timing could be slighty off too.
