What is wrong with this motor?
It is an 83-84 R motor.. If you shift the motor threw the gears and turn the sprocket by hand it will turn the motor over.. Now when I ride it, all the gears are there but fifth it just revs out with no pull... If it where the clutch wouldnt all gears slip???

The clutch might just be starting to go or the springs could be getting weak. The higher the gear the more wor it is for the motor to turn it. Those air cooled motors are easy to do a clutch on. Should take 15 minutes tops.

my Z engine did the same thing, it was a transmission problem.

If its the clutch, it will be a lot worse in the lower gears. Its most likely one of the gears. Some of the gears have knobs on the sides that mesh with the gear beside it on the shaft, and when they get rounded off a little it will do this. Turning by hand there is enough knob to grab the next gear, but put a little torque on it and it slips right on past over the rounded edges.

Sounds like a friction plate glazed!Just change clutches out,its cheap and very easy, and you'll be happy when its right!!
