OK, I decided to put new brakes on the 84 Big Red for Trikefest (wife rides this one mostly) and ran into some trouble. The front axle is stuck! I beat the heck out of it (ruined it in the process) with no movement. Is cutting it my only option? Cut between the brakes and right fork tube? Any tricks you guys know?

Thanks

It's probably siezed to the spacer between the bearings. Normally your only opions are pressing the bolt out ( takes a powerful press ), cutting, grinding, or drilling the head off the bolt.

Maybe a little bit of heat on the spacers with an oxy torch might expand them enough to free the axle.

You can heat the leg up with a torch and it may come out. If not you can do like Scott and I did. Put it in a vise or something and get a good socket wrench on there and then put a 3 ft/4ft cheater piple on it and pull pull pull. It will free its:D self or somethig will break. Mine freed its self.
