take the silencer off of the stock exhaust and fire it up with just the open header. thats what they sound like.
I have one on 85X and it is really loud for a 200

I had a cobra on a 86 200x, it was so loud, that is hurts your ears with the noise. I had to put a sparky spark arrester to quiet it down and it actually improved power. Now I have the cobra header and 350x supertrapp, its much better.

Way too loud. I don't like the cobra louds or the DG systems :banned: cause they really do not give any noteable power increase, and they will make your ears bleed.

wrong, i just found this out about 2 hours ago. me and my freind have the same trike 225 dx, mines and 85 and his is an 84. well he all ways smokes me and pulls away in 5th gear. well he has a dg pipe and ofcourse i have stock, the pipe gives him more high end power because i take him in the launch and all threw 4 gears until 5th. we have the same size tires also. today we switched pipes and guess what. he took me at launch threw 4th gears and 5 i just pulled away laughing at him. no tuning or changing jets i just threw it on. so in my mind your wrong. ohh belive me it was a big noticeable difference.

I don tknow how all these dg pipes are loud on 200x's ive got a steel one on mine and its not super loud its more of a rumble and it doesnt scream unless i over rev it. ive got a cousin that has a krome pipe on his and its just alittle bit louder than mine.

Whatever your unique experience may be, all I know is this: The original question Stacey asked was about the DG compared to stock. The DG is loud as hell compared to stock. If you disagree with that, you've obviously been behind a DG pipe too long and you are half deaf.
My neighbor and frequent riding partner has a 1984 200x that used to have a DG pipe on it. He first had a stock pipe that rusted through on the hangers, put on a Cobra Pipe and hated it, and then tried the DG. The result was undesirable noise levels, and no real performance gain. What did he do? He bought a stock pipe and muffler off Ebay and put a stock system back on.
If you like loud for loudness sake, good! More power to you. Will the DG breathe better? Sure. And if it gives you some crazy seat-of-the-pants horsepower gain, then great. If you had a bad system on there to begin with, then ANY system installed on the trike would be an improvement. Just my 2 cents from my experience, however "wrong" that may be. :)

Plus loud exhaust pisses people off that are not riders and attracts the forest dept rangers!

Please dont use loud pipes just because they are loud...As someone trying to open up a local riding area sound has been by far the #1 complaint I've had to overcome. Everytime you go riding with a loud pipe you make non riders think less of us in general and you increase the potential of your local riding area being closed down.

what are you guys talking about. My dg is not loud at all. Just make sure that you replace the packing when it wears out.

My 200X (when its back in one piece) will be used once in a blue moon as the R is my main ride , the reason I bought a DG is that it worked out cheaper than OEM (new) although it cost a few $$ to ship it over here . plus I dont think it will be any louder than the 400,and 450 quads
Cheers

Billy,
There are no such things as riding parks over here, its all on privately owned land riding is done. If you want to make a noise... its up to you hah.
