Is it very difficult to install new piston rings by yourself or should i have it done by a shop???

It is a 1985 200x, and if i had a shop do it how much would it probably cost??

What ever the hourly rate is.Shops vary in $'s by hour.

do it yourself, it is fairly easy and saves you alot of money plus you learn more about your motor, i was in the same situation with my 84 200x like 3 months ago and i just did it myself and it was easy, just make sure you get your timing set right when you put it back togather

If the rings are worn, chances the valves and timing chain and .. ... .. ..... all the rest needs to be checked.

You can physically replace rings.. sure.. but how long and how well will it run is the question .

There is more to re-building an engine than just replacing rings.

Yes i know that there is more to rebuilding a motor than rings, but it smokes and i just want the smoke to go away and it smokes because my rings are bad.
