i clear coated my frame with the reccomended PJ1 clear coat and lo and behold ORANGE PEEL! for those of you who have never heard the term orange peel think of the surface of an orange all cratered well that whats my frame looks like now .
dunno if im gonna reblast the frame or not i need to it looks like crap its a good thing i didnt clear coat the gas tank as it turned out great bondo and all guess i need to order more frame paint im set back now dunno when itll get done.

Thats shitty man, I don't suppose we even need to suggest you try it on a small unseen area before, I don't suppose it would have occoured to me either though!
Nat
just a suggestion, have you tried sanding with like 600 grit to see if that removes the orange peel? You might still be able to salvage it like that, and then another coat of paint after sanding.

Are you sure it's an orange peel and not a fish-eye problem? orange peel is easily fixed with a bit of sandpaper. Fish-eye means there is oil on the surface and it must be removed before painting.

I know clear coat needs to be compatiable with the paint. I clearcoated one part a rear hub, and it ended up like that crackeled paint. Sorry to hear about that. go for the powdercoating if you blast again, Its not that much money and I'll be a bunch nicer.

:D yea yea i hear ya i should of tried it in a small spot 1st :-D <-----full-bore .
shipping to MD would be outrageous and i dont have 150.00lol.
goku- thats what in gonns do sand it again with 600 grit actually ive done quite a bit already.
mobular- it is orange peel actually if any one uses the PJ1 paints and clear coat make SURE you use the PJ1 primer.
I didnt use the pj1 primer just ordinary auto primer in grey and it had a chemichal reaction with the paint so when i used the pj1 clear coat it orange peeled i will never forget this mistake i tried to save a few bucks and it cost me 15.00 and more time and yet another set back.
unfortunately i dont htink the maier fenders im gonna get are gonna match the gas tank and frame i put an old oem fender upp against my tank and the tank looks orange compared to fender so i think im gonna have light red frame and tank and red fenders
