I have a couple of questions on this 250sx engine.
I dont think thats supposed to be like that (see Picture)
When i kick over the engine slowly, the kickstarter moves freely , the gears spin and the clutch turns but the piston doesnt go up or down. But if i were to grab on the flywheel and turn it by hand, it does and feel like to has alot of compression. Is this caused by the end of the crank in picture? I bought this trike fairly cheap from a guy who didint know what was wrong with it. I can split the case, but was wondering if its worth fixing ?
Thanks

That is NOT supposed to be like that at all. What you have there is a broken crank. I have seen a few of these before. In fact I would be willing to bet the right side cover is broke as well.
If you want to fix the 250sx let me know. I have a good crank / tranny at the shop. I would sell it cheap, and I can get pictures of it if needed.

How much will you sell it for? Im also looking for a sx gas tank to if you might know someone who has one. Mine is rusty, with holes in the bottom. Is doing the crank on these similar to a 2 stroke?
This is my first 4 stroke engine rebuild, can these be pretty expensive to rebuild?
Thanks

As far as repairing goes: You have to first find the proper crank ( they use a couple different ones ). New via Honda is about $3-400, a good used crank can be found for $10-$100. Then you have to buy gaskets and split the cases, ect. So yes it is basically the same as a 2 stroke ( on the bottom end ).
The bottom end I have is together minus some right side stuff ( I used a bunch of parts for another machine ), The starter gears, flywheel and stator & cover is gone as well. But you should have all these parts with yours. This would save you from having to split the motor and change the crank. That in itself is a pain. More information and pictures to come ( when I get to the shop tonight ).
I will talk to Pickle this afternoon / evening and PM you. I need a zip code to figure shipping cost, I will also need the serial number off your motor to be sure this bottom end ( crank ) will innerchange. PM me this information and I will look it up at the shop tonight.
I should have a good gas tank as well.
