can anyone help me with my tri-z

is the tranny cover casing on the 86 just a bad design because mine keeps breaking like when i kick it it cracks and it breaks then i jb weld and tack and blah blah i just need to know what to do to stop it

Someone on here bought a new one from their local dealer. Might of been expensive but he hasnt had any problems since so im assuming they work well!

***edit*** pay a welding shop to tig weld it and reinforce it!:beer

They have a history of cracking..You'll need to buy a new one or take a chance of getting a decent one cheap on ebay

Depending on how its broke it might be possible to have it welded back up.

I bought a new one from yamaha for $108 and it's been fine since.

to the guy who said he bought one from yamaha can i get that site or wherever *Edited* got it and the guy who asked what it looked like..... perfect match to my 4 cracked ones.... its starting to piss me off really i just put soooo much into the engine and now i cant ride bc that thing.... i can however pull start it:D

Looks like it starts cracking where the case was milled out for the kick start cover. Sharp edges = cracks
