Porting/timing question

When you port should you advance the timing as well?? Or does it not really matter..?

most builders will tell you to go ahead and avance it a few degrees, every bike that i have that has been ported is advanced but the tri-z , i have it retarted

yes, i ride it in the woods and trails, so i wanted more of a low end hit.if i drag race it, i advance it 7 degrees, it has marks on it let you know where it is
