Do you have a nice original 185S seat that I can take measurements from?

Hello all... I am going to have moshman reproduce a seat for my 1981 185S restoration, and I was hoping someone out there had a nice original seat that I could have some measurements from. Here is what I am looking for:

Honda stencil on rear of seat - What is the height of the letters (more exact the better) and the width of each letter, along with the total width of the word "Honda". Any pictures would also help...

Foam height - Any help with the height of the foam and overall foam dimensions would also help me. in fact, if you know of a store where I can get the foam replacement, already cut to size, please let me know.

Please keep in mind that this is an exact restoration. I can only use input from an original seat from the correct year 185S (1981/1982). Travelcade covers and the like do not count, and cannot help me here. Obviously if someone has an NOS 185S seat they would like to sell, that would also be helpful:)

Did the 185S have Honda on the seat... I've been looking at the ads and see that an 83 cam with an all back seat. Can't find a pic of the back of a 81/82 tho... I'll look at my 82 185 when I get home, I know it doesn't have Honda stenciled on it, but I'm not sure if it has been recovered.

I am not sure either, that was an assumption on my part... Yeah, any help you guys can give would be spectacular, as I don't have any real great pictures of the seat...

Deatons, I will check my seat when I get home after 4p and I will get a picture or 2 and post it and see if that will help. The seat came off a 1 owner 185s that had all the paperwork and an origial brochure and has the original ownership card also, 1982 185s.

Thanks, this will really help. This should be perfect, as the 81/82 were pretty much the same.... Let me know! I yanked the crappy old cover off of the seat I have, and I just may have an original here, but it looks horrible.... Once I see yours I will know better....

We had a pretty nice 185S that was original, and it didn't have HONDA written on the seat.. It's simply all black.

Deatons, Here are the pictures. As you see the seat is on original and slightly worn plastics. This seat and fenders are sitting on my bolt on suspension 185s. Hope this helps.

Here is the seat that came on my trike, from the original owner. Can anyone confirm that this is an authentic Honda pattern in the material? From what I've seen in pictures I believe that 1981 was the only year they used this pattern on the top of the seat. 1982 looks to be smooth, from the pictures I have seen and the seat vealmonkey posted. If this is the correct material, then does anyone know where to get some these days? Thanks!! James

Not that the 185s I had was anywhere’s near original but it had the same style seat you have James, I doubt this is any help but I thought I would toss it out there. This is the only picture I have of it (yes it really was in as bad of shape as the picture suggests).

Ah-Ha! That makes yet another 185S witht he same pattern on the seat.... This can't be coincidence... Hopefully I can still find that vinyl pattern, maybe a bit thicker though, as they all seem to split in the embroidary.... Thanks!! Keep the pics coming! James

OK, now ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1983-Honda-ATC-185s_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43981QQitemZ463446 2361QQrdZ1) has a nice 185s with the plain seat which is supposedly original but I don't see the seam in the back like the one on Veal's.
