Well I have been working on it for a month or so, and I finally finished it. As some of you guys know I sold the 87 SX. Well I sold it for $2400. With that money I bought this BigRed, and put the rest away. I totally re-did the bike. Practically all new NOS everything and a new set of MudLites. She has a Headlight Grille, Cooler Rack, Brush Guard, Floor Boards, Speedo setup, and Exhaust Tip turn down. Pat doesn't have much if anything on me. LOL. All new NOS plastic, trim and mudflaps. New Decals and a fresh Paint job by yours truly. Im very happy with my bike. I will be keeping this one. I hated getting rid of my old 87 BR, but it wasnt perfect. This one practically is. What do ya think? Beater bike or what?:naughty:

So it was a 86 and you made it a 87 or is it a 87?? Looks like it use to have 86 stickers on it. But the new stickers are 87 model. It does have the grey seat and the grey ignition switch cover so I ma thinking it is a 86 model.

ClayW
04-14-2006, 08:38 PM
Yes its a 86. I already had the 87 Decals. Kinda like them better anyway. :beer

The 87 had a gray dash and dark gray seat cover also. I have owned one of those. Thats why I had the spare decals.:beer[/QUOTE]

That looks sweet! nice job. I see you went with the itp mudlites, good choice, i used one on the front of my trike (realtors on back) and i love it , imo its one of the best fronts out there for trikes and looks to be a good choice for the rear as well.
I myself couldnt take a trike that nice out and beat on it, maybe tool around on it from time to time , but no thrashin on it. thats what those four wheeled things are for, lol

Yeah, thats my problem. Too nice to ride very much. No one is allowed to ride it. I let the wife put around the front yard with it, but it makes her nervous. LOL:D As far as the paint goes, Im experimenting with a few colors. I have somewhere the original Honda paint code. The problem with it is this. To get that color you have to go with the HIGH end PPG paint. $80 a pint. compared to $20. THen you have to buy the HIGH dollar thinner for the paint and the HIGH dollar clear. Materials would end up costing well over $200. Too much money. I Have a couple colors that are real close. The color I use depends on what Bike its going on, and the current color of their fenders. I put the new OEM fenders on mine, and the color that I had been using was too dark of a red. So I went to a lighter red. Its not dead on, but I dont think it can be due to the variations of fender colors. Red Honda fenders vary in color big time. Some are blood red, some are a pink red and some are dang near orange. It can be frustrating.

Oh and as far as the rack color. I used Duplicolors Ford Semi Gloss 500 Degree Engine Paint. Its very durable, and matches the factory color and finish perfect. I have a brand new cooler rack on the front that matches the front rack perfect.

Thanks man. I am very proud of it. I have ridden it about 100 yards since the restore. Just hate to get on it. LOL. But I will start riding it around some, but not in the mud. NO WAY NO HOW. LOL. Im going to get a ole beater bike for that. She is kept indoors. LOL. Not a joke. Climate controled.

05-01-2006, 06:24 PM

Nice job really clean and nice bike. Ive wanted a set of those floor boards forever now.

Me again asking about foot guards where did you find those or did you make them I still in search of the nerf guards, probably easier to find the loch ness monster.
