just bought an 84 tri moto - when it warms up it wants to stall when I shift up. Rebuilt the carb, jug, head, and seal on the clutch side(wasnt any oil on the magneto side)-- any recommendations? TY

so when you put it in gear it wants to stall as in it was a manual and you changes it with no clutch?? if thats the case seems the clutch has to much grab even tho its and auto...so on the right side cover (clutch side) there is a nut with a screw in the middle of it with a increase/decrease writting. loosen the nut and screw the screw to decrease, hold it and tighten the nut, see if that helps. NOTE: the screw with the nut doesent turn more than a 1/4th the way its very small turn so dont think its broke.

nope-it wants to stall when I take off, it'll stall when I shift to a higher gear or when trying to go up hill, usually if I downshift I can keep it moving-just wants to bog out- but then it'll start right up but it will sit n idle in 1st till I give it gas

Check your valve lash.If it is not correct then you could run into this problem.

ohh in that case take your carb apart and clean it out and clean the jets good. you should be good to go .

I have the same problem with my trike,
It runs on the level and downhill, but as soon as strain is put on it , like going up hill, she dies. I have tried cleaning the carb, compression is good, everything, the only thing I havent tried is the electrical.

could be the float or timming but when mine did it. it was the jetting. the jets wer pluged with flakes of rust.
