My friend has a 1985 200 (not sure which model) and when he shifts to a higher gear, the RPM's get high (it's still getting power) and then the engine catches the gear, and then it drives fine. So I was just wondering what the problem could be. The owner is like a mechanic, and he took it apart, and couldnt find anything wrong with it...So we're pretty stumped, do you guys have any ideas? Thanks a lot.

First thoughts point to a problem with the auto-clutch - but - second thoughts say it could also be a bent shift fork .

Yep Wickedfinger is right. Its the clutch not grabbing, it slips then when you let off the throttle is engages again. I am about to replace mine actually, just ease on the throttle and youll be fine. No pinned it of the start!
