I know a guy that said his friends 350x did around 57mph with very small mods and that was with a police radar gun. ATVsport did a test on the 400EX and it went 57.1 MPH on a radar gun also so thats about probably 55-58mph for the 350x.

It's ok Mike, I'm not one of those people. I tend to believe ATV Sport's numbers. I dunno something about Dirtwheels wheels numbers............. and CraigI believe you, Nick said his X was at 64, and Doc's R at 68 (both bikes modded here and there) :beer

My 350x was stock when I rode it at 3/4ths throttle in 6th next to my friends El camino in the country out here. I hit 60+ and did not have it opend all the way. I think my rear sprocket is 40 teeth. I had flat track shredders on the rear.

Stock engine and gearing (13/40) and stock big ole 22" tiers 62 is what they do. Modds to the engine wont make you go faster only gearing will. I highly doubt that *Edited**Edited* x hit 60+ with the 20" rear's on it and stock gearing. Top speed is all gearing nothing to do with engine power. (but more power the higher gearing you can pull)

speedometers in cars and trucks are often not 100% correct do to replacing tires that are different sizes thhan stock....and/or they have tehre ways of getting messed with of couse loke anything else....because a lot of speedos hook up to the tranny, and this will spin fat different speeds at the same actual speed due to larger or smller tires than stock

If the height is sufficient, a stock 350X will accelerate at 32 ft per second/ per second, topping out at a terminal velocity of about 120 mph. They hardly ever survive impact, though.

On pavement, I have been clocked by pacing twice. Top speed stock was 67 mph both times on different pace cars. I still claim the trike will do 70 mph. Close enough :)

I have/had both stock (gearing and tires). 350X low/mid 60's, 400EX mid 60's.

Cant trust a Ford for an accurate measurement either. Especially a Taurus. I ran next to a polaris 400 sportsman that said 62 everytime. What does top speed matter anyways...the fun is getting there.

STOCK.... no mods
trikes are faster up north due to teh rotation of the earth.....

it is hard to answer this question because of geographical differences. I am in Dallas Texas and my neighbors 06 Rincon has gps and a speedometer and according to that his rincon will run 68. I can outrun him on the 350X I have and the only mods are the baffle removed and aftermarket razor tires still 22 inch tires and I only beat him by about 2-3 miles per hour. And I have stock gearing. I am sure different tires and different sprockets will make a bigger difference. So like I said it is hard to answer this querstion. Even stock and in different locations results will vary.

WTF are you smoking OHD, 60 MPH in california is still 60 MPH in japan. Location will make no diffrence on speed, that is defently one of the stupidest things ive ever read on line. If you notce klondike says its in the back of a truck, your just dumb.

Learn what the *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* you are talking about before you open that mouth of yours. So you are telling me that in the high elevation of colorado that a 350x will run the same as a bike in california? If that is what you think then you have no idea what in the *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* you are talking about. Do you not know anything at all about elevation? Above and below sea level? Just shut up and let people with some sense answer the question.

So whats this big deal about top speeds anyways. If its fast its fast. Id rather beat a faster bike than the one I got rather than whipping on a slower one any day. The trick here is to learn to ride what you got and never let off on the throttle. A 350x can beat aq 400ex in the woods any day any where if you are a better rider!! Thats my 2 cents.

Drive fast, Die quick. Who wants to linger!

Show me ANYTHING that says that location changes speed. Altitude dosnt change speed, nothing does. Altitude may make an engine run better but as long as it can rev out the top speed is not going to change.

Um then why do pitcher in at Coors Field in Colorado throw a higher average speed faster than anyother field in baseball? Its because the air is thinner and the baseball moves faster. Same thing with homeruns there.

Then why in the hell would Nascar and NHRA and everyone else out there spend millions of dollars on research to analyze track conditions, weather conditions, elevation??? Maybe you need to pay more attention to racing.

Are you saying that elevation has nothing to do with speed? Its laws of physics about elevation and density of air masses. And I am a harcore NASCAR fan too.

so what color powerband should I run in south La. where the air is really thick, and we are below sea level? an if you think im kidding about the sea level, my house is 9 ft off the ground and 6 ft above sea level (and it wont do 70mph)

slow down fellas, theres no reason to get mad an have **edited** all over the screen, its too hard to figure out an count all those things to see what your saying!!!, Dave

the old saying LEAN IS MEAN AND FATS WHERE ITS AT
high elivation has less oxygen which WILL affect air / fuel ratio's and in turn richen the air / fuel. which will slow you down.
havent you ever noticed a cold day it will run liked a raped ape.
i drag race also and on a day with a 30 deg lower temp my car will run 2 tenths and 3 mph faster larry

exactly thats a car. On a bike its not going to have an affect. This is about top speed, as long as your engine is getting in the maximum rpm in 6th gear. Its still going to be the same anwhere, yes the engine may run better but it still can only rev so much.

the laws of physics dont care if it is a bike or a car or a dumptruck. Facts are facts. Just admit you are wrong and be done with it.

NOS_350X
04-06-2006, 08:37 PM
OK OK i admit a 350x in higher elivation might be faster than one at sealevel, BUT it wouldnt be a diffrence that would be noticed by a rider or normal means of judging speed. Now if you have some fancy smancy way of judging speed then you MIGHT notice a diffrence but even at that its not like .1 MPH is going to make a diffrence.

LMGDAO it still gets down to the fact that the so called laws of physics would tell you that a stock 350x engine can only turn a certain max rpms no matter what the elevation.
