Well i know its rough but oh well. I finally got an R :w00t: I traded my xr500 dirtbike with an extra parts engine for it. Nobody wanted to give me anything for the xr500 so i got this. It needs a piston and also needs bored. The guy didnt know where the carb was but he is supposed to send it to me. I'll probablly end up getting a diff carb though. it has a dg head, answer silencer, and i noticed the jug is ported on it too. The rear fenders are cracked and the front is missing. it's also missing the headlight. If you have any 83-84 parts i might need let me know and i might buy them. What is a bigger and better carb to put on here?

you can tell it's been sitting awhile. I dont know what a good or bad portjob looks like so let me know how it looks  anybody have any ideas how to make this thing scream? I want to surprise some people in the drags at TF06. Are the 83-84's faster than the 81-82's? I know they have the same engine but thats about all i know. I was thinking about a 300r kit but i really wish i could make it just as fast without getting a 300 kit, the 300 kits seem impossible to get gaskets for from what i've heard so i might shy away from one of those. What will it take to make this keep up with a 85/86? you all know you would crap if this rough looking thing showed up at trikefest and was wooping all over the 85 86 r's and tri-z's   well that is, if it's possible to do so.

Add a 35 or 36mm carb to the combo you have and it should be a great runner! Looks like it already has a pipe and silencer, head, & porting. SHould be a great combo. My air cooled R made tons of low-end power but fell dead up top. With the mods you have it should be a strong running mid range motor. Wouldn't expect to be beating many water pumpers with it, but it is possible. Trikaholic has a real fast air-cooler.

Something about those old air cooled 250R's I love. I have got to find me another one.
