View Full Version : Stock jet sizes for the 350X?

I'm going to tear into this carb and want to find out what size jets were originally in it, in case mine have been changed.
Something is just not right with the carb tune. First of all, the bike will not start when stone cold on full choke, Only half choke. Then you can not touch the throttle or it will die. If it stays running long enough to turn the choke off, it will idle but if you touch the throttle any until its warm it will bog or try to die.
It seems to me like something is incorrect in the choke circuit or possibly the idle circuit.
Thanks for the help.

Derrick,what year is it?
85's had a 42 pilot
86's had a 45 pilot
What are your mods?
Sounds like either your pilot jet is too big or your mixture screw is off.
If it only starts on half choke and not full choke, sounds like your getting too much gas.

I totally agree. I'm going to check the choke circuit first, but I believe it just needs the idle circuit leaned out. I'm going to tear the whole carb apart and clean it all, then set the idle enrichment circuit and start from there.
At least I got the decompression fixed!

Derrick, be sure to check the accelerator pump operation while you have the carb off. If you can't throttle Into It, It could be starving for fuel. That carb has a throttle flap & the engine needs that shot of fuel so when the throttle flap opens there Is gas ready to flow by. It works like a holley accellerator pump & Is adjustable.

Sorry to tell you but the 350x dosent have a acclerator pump. You have to upgrade to a 400ex carb to get that.
