Hey just wondering what anyone can tell me about the frame on my 70. I noticed a few days ago the talk about the front fender scrubbing the bolts on the head meaning a bad frame or bent forks. I have had this machine for a few years and the fender hit the bolts when I got it. I loosened the fender and put a little pressure on it and tightened it up. I got it to where it scrubs a little but not as bad. Well anyway I am wanting to sell this and I decided to look under the tank and check it to see if the frame was bent because the forks looked fine. What I found looks like someone has probably welded the steering knuckle off of another frame onto this one. Is that correct? They didn't do a bad job in my opinion as it has carried my 225 lbs around a bunch as well as my girls but it is a problem If I want to sell I am sure. Posted are some pics. If any of you can tell me what you think about it. I wonder if I would be better to sell it out in parts and get what I can , look for another frame or sell it whole for a parts toy? It runs fine has good tires and decent plastic. Smokes a little and could use a carb rebuild. Help me out with your opinions if you can. Thanks. If my pics aren't right I will have to try something else. I am a novice as far as getting the pics to the right size.

This looks to me that the frame was bent at some point in time, then heated up and bent back. Looks like the original neck on it to me. Maybe someone else can verify this statement, but I would say that's what you are seeing.

That is the original frame, it just broke and someone welded it. I would sell it as is and tell the new owner the frame has been welded or pick up a good frame cheap, you should be able to get one for about $20 or $30 and they don't cost much to ship since they are so small. Mine had a bent frame in the same spot as yours, it held up for a year of me pounding on it (170lbs.) and I didn't take it easy, lots of wheelies:naughty: . After a year the frame snapped so I swapped it out for a good frame I got on eBay for $20 and pounded on it for another summer before selling it and when I sold it the frame was still fine. I kept my broken frame and plan on welding in some stronger tubing at some point.

Thanks for the help. I kind of thought that a person could beef one up in that spot or fix a bent one also. Mine is really solid otherwise and it seems like you could even double the thickness there under the tank and still fit the parts back together no problem.

Our 1 70 frame is bent again after the boy was riding it. And yes it bent in the same spot. I have a idea how to fix it and it still look stock, but it's going to be a while. I got other machines ahead of it.
