I've been looking for the same thing so this would be useful to me as well.

That's for the calipers, I've seen that before, we're talking about the master cylinders though.

have you tried taking it apart and cleaning it up first? a lot of times thats all it needs. I cleaned up an 86 TRX master cylinder that was pretty haggard looking, I thought it needed a rebuild to but after I cleaned it and put back together it worked like a champ.

Did it have a real spongy feeling even after bleeding the breaks before you did this? I thought that when they get like this it means stuff is worn inside like seals and such but hey I'll try this beforehand I guess and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

sponginess means a couple of things. 1: yea your seals could be worn out. 2: you have air in the lines. 3: you brake fluid is really old and needs to be changed.
to help bleeding procedures, go to james lucky and get the E-Z brake bleeder syringe. yea 30 dollars seems steep but when it takes less than 3 minutes to bleed the front and rear brakes with it, its a 30 dollars well spent. it also works on anything that has an air bleed valve.

i had real spongy feeling front brakes on my 86 trx 250r. they would not even hold enough to do a burn out. i tried bleeding it out some and it did nopt help.
here it was the stock rubber brake hose was weak and was stretching/swelling when you used the braakes. i put a steel braided line on and it locks up with only using a 1/3 of the lever movement.
just letting you know this mite be your problem.
