Ok, New diff is on, forgot to take the plug out when it was off the bike. SO now its seized on there pretty good.

I'm not even going to try the 6mm allen wrench in it, it will just strip. I locked on to it with a big pair of vice grips, really tight, it wont spin at all.
I heated up the aluminum around the plug with a torch, then used the vice grips, still a no go.

What else should I try? Ive got an impact that i can get a 6mm allen key on, do you think that would work?

Anyone got some tips, or other things to try? Im going down to the shop in probably 20 - 30 minutes

Im thinking the impact will do the trick.

that sounds good, but clean any junk out of the hex hole so that the wrench sits in there nice and snugly, and there isnt any dirt to make teh head slip a litle bit.

You could try heating it and letting it cool a few times before hitting it with the impact...or just go all out on it.

Set the hex in there and gently tap it in with a hammer, mabey get a small pipe to fit around it for leverage if you feel safe doing that, while heating it of course.

i wouldnt try and turn the bolt with a hammer that usually strips bolts, go with the impact

can you rap on it with a hammer to break the corrosion that is locking it in place??

Get a small chisel, tap it a few times to make a small gouge in the outer rim of the plug, move the chisel to a good angle & drive it off with a couple of good hits with the hammer.
Works for me every time on about a 1/2 dozen YTM diffs. Some of them were almost completely gone from someone using vice grips or a small pipe wrench, even.

did you try putting penetrating oil on it? maybe it would help. it always has for me.
