I am super curious as to what that was worth to you? It's almost priceless in the sense that it's probably about 1 of what, 5 like it that has never been ridden. If I had to put a price on it, I'd give (if I had it to give) 5 Large!

I had a serious offer of $10,000 on my new 1987 200x and declined. 20 year old unridden ATCs are SEMI --priceless....
What do new Harleys cost that you can buy at every Harley dealership in the country....an unridden ATC is worth Some dinero to the right person for sure. RARE for sure
Looks sweet!!!! Nice score RangeRover. :beer

OK....That is the cleanest ATC I have personally ever seen. I was going to get a pic of the guys @ the dealership taking it down, but didn't a little too GEEKY!!!! Anyway here are some additional pics to show how freakin sick this one is(not to steal RR's thread). After they got it down and put gas in it, they kicked it 6 times and it started.:w00t: Needless to say I was nervous as a CAT when I brought it home. It sat in my Garage for a few weeks and RR is lucky, You know how tempting that was!! Back To the Future has got nothing on this one!!!! Yeah the Air Guides were put on ass backwards:wondering , so the other pictures I have are before I figured out that the tank shrouds were on the wrong side.

Back in 1997 I was in Palm springs, ca. I ran across a guy that had 2 1986 Honda 250rs still in the orginal crate/box for sale!!! He wanted $2500 a piece for them. NO LIE!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw them. I didnt snag one because "I had other priorities in my life" lol. I still kick myself to this day over that!!! I know I'll never get over that one.

Speaking of new trikes...a long long time ago back in probably 02 or 03 Marco aka Greenboy/Hagen posted some pictures of an 86 Tri-Z still in the crate from over in Germany. If I remember the story right a guy he met bought two of them that were brought over there from here. He took the one out and has been riding it ever since then (street legally too I think) and has kept the other one crated up.

Yep I remember seeing the pics of that one here on the board...definetly still in the crate unmolested...the cardboard started to give way to the steel frame of the crate but it was drfinetly a crate 86 Z!!!!!!

I promise you that you will never see this thing on EBAY. But, what do you guys think that it would bring on there???

03-26-2006, 09:16 AM
Why does it matter? Who cares what other people would pay for it. If you have no desire to sell it why would you even want to know what someone else thinks it is worth.

Just wondering, your telling me any investments you make you have no disire to know their market value?? Thats pretty silly.

03-26-2006, 09:27 AM
If it is something that I know I will be keeping then no I have no desire to know what it will bring. I have a 1985 250sx that isnt really worth very much on ebay but just recently a guy saw me riding it around and stopped me and asked me to sell it. Hell he offered me 2500 on the spot for it. But my grandfather got it new in 85 and as soon as it showed up on the showroom floor I was in love with it, It is not worth nearly what the guy offered me but I turned it down because it has a sentimental value and I would kick myself if i were to sell it. So honestly to me the market value has no bearing on something I have and dont want to sell.

03-26-2006, 09:30 AM
If all you are in it for is too make money off of something then yes you need to pay close attention to the market. And I suspect that I will soon see this on ebay. Maybe not to sell it but just to see what you think you might be able to get for it. I am sure the price would be way on up there and you would probably sell it for a mint but to me it just isnt worth selling something that i want that much.

As I said before you will never see it on ebay or ever ridden. It is going to my office today actually. I would like to know it's value as most anybody would. People who collect coins get them appraised and are not looking to sell them.
Looking to see if I paid to much or just in line etc.

I guess what i am trying to say is that its kind of hard to put a price tag on something that you want. It is a once in a lifetime type of find and so putting a exact dollar amount on it is really not the issue. If you are happy at the price you got it for then that is all that matters. I would be guessing at this, but i am sure that thing has been hanging there for quite some time. And I know full well that there have probably been a ton of people that have tried to buy or asked if it was for sale. And for what ever reason it has not sold. For you to be ale to buy it means that the owner of the dealership thought the he wouldnt be able to get anymore money out of it or that he had found a good home for it. So more then likely you paid top dollar for it. And more then likely there is someone out there somewhere that will give you more then you paid for it. But as I said before it is all about what it is worth to you. Not what someone else takes a guess and tells you what they think it is worth.

Most of you have heard of the Yamaha dealership in Kearney, NE that has all the trikes hanging from the walls. When I was in there last summer, I joked to a salesman that I would take "that one and that one" to go. He said with all seriousness that EVERYTHING in the showroom was for sale. Granted, I doubt that any of them are NOS machines. That Tecate that looks so great in pictures isn't as nice as it looks. The whole rear end including the brake rotor was simply spray painted silver.

20's good point. They are supposed to be 22's and the shrouds were on backwards as well.

RangerRover, what did you pay for that 200X ? I don't see what the big deal is in saying. You said you would like to know if you paid too much. I'm sure a few members would say what they think. I think it is good to say so we all can keep track od what bikes in our hobby are worth. I just paid $2k for a 82 250r. I think it was a good deal, some say too much. Not everyone s looking for that year. I know of 3 Honda ATC's that have never been ridden they were bought for $2000 and less a few years ago. Prices have gone up so those could be at least doubled now. I mostly collect vintage minibkes. I have a 1971 El Burro Sand-N-Sno bike. It has never been ridden. I bought it from a guy who's dad was a dealer in the 70's. They have balloon tires like the early ATC90's. Just smaller. I paid $1100 for it. I wouldn't sell it for less than $10k. Is it worth that ? Probably not but I can almost gaurantee it is the nicest one anywhere. The balloon tires still have the nubs on them and don't even have a scratch on them. They are rare. A lot more than any 3 wheeler produced but if you not into mnibikes it probably wouldn't be worth $500 to some. I don't plan on ever selling it but if I was offered $10k I think I would. It would be a shame to fire up a 35 yr old NOS bike but if I ever get a chance to go to Pismo Beach I will take it out of my den and hit the dunes.
