The guy I got my R from came by today wanting to make a trade. He wanted a 70 project for his son, he popped out a 300 big bore kit minus the piston. The cylinder is in great shape, head is there, reed cage with the reeds also. it has 7 holes for the head bolts, is that right? He told me the piston is on another bottom end he has an will see about getting it to me. What is this worth minus the piston? Can the rings still be bought? Any good or bad points about installing this on my 84?

Im not sure if I want to install this on my trike because of the riding I do. Its mostly tight trails, mud, woods riding with very little space to open it up fully.Im thinking of selling it so I can buy new plastics....What should I do?

Unless it is ready to run it's not worth a whole lot. Pistons and rings are no longer avalable. You can have another piston made to fit but your looking at $400 easy.

The 300 kit did have 7 bolts, vs the 6 on the stocker. Piston and rings, and probably the gaskets too, are very hard to come by. You could search for years. Or have one made, but it will be expensive. Not sure what they're worth, but can't be that much without the piston/rings, etc. Probably not what you want to do to a trike that you woods-ride. The power won't really be usable in your situation, I don't think. Get it cheap and ebay it, maybe you'll get a hundred or so.
