Whats wrong with it? the trans. in the ALT and LT 125 (82-86)are the same, some parts are avail. through Suzuki, some parts from the LT 185 fit into the 125 as well. Wecome to the boards, and the worderful world of restoring antiques.
Bikebandit.com has picture blow ups of the trans, parts avail, and costs etc. generally they are 10 to 15% higher in cost than the dealer + Can > US exchange and customs fees.
Haynes / Clymer have manuals avail for the ALT LT series machines.

The most common problem with these machines is the driven shaft breaks. When it does it trashes the cases ( 95% of the time ). It damages 2nd & 3rd gears as well.

P.S. If you find this is the problem let me know. I have a semi complete motor if needed. Will sell it whole or just the bottomend. It should be cheaper than buying new parts. ;)
