With summer approaching, I decided to pull out the trike and start it up just to be sure it was running. (But mainly because I was bored..)

So I pulled it out, she started just like normal and I was happy...Or so you'd think.

Well, lately I have been thinking a lot about re-doing my trike. I decided that the things I wanted done are:

The Body/Seat/Rear Fenders/Handle Bars are all in great condition.

I just need:

TAKING OFF OTHER 250SX-Gas Tank - Painted/Decals
Engine Casing - Stripped/Polished
[*Edited*]BUYING AN AFTERMARKET ONE[/*Edited*] - Grab Bar
Foot Pegs/Kick Start/Clutch - Stripped/Polished
[*Edited*]DONE/ALMOST DONE[/*Edited*] - Gas Cap - Stripped/Painted or Polished

So any ideas on where/how to do these things? Tools, Equiptment, etc..?

The Gas cap is an easy thing to do and you could also do the grab bar this way (I did my throttle housing top and gas cap like this). If you have a wire wheel just turn it on and wire wheel the black paint off (should take about ten seconds to get down to the aluminum or whatever the cap is made of). Then just use some MOTHERS aluminum Polish for the added touch.

That is the eaiest way I can think of to do it, your alternative would be to start off at like 200 grit sand paper and work up to a high grit like 2000. Lot more work however. Took me about 30 minutes to do my gas cap and throttle housing top using the wire wheel way and polishing them up.

I have found that the wirewheel doesn't work nearly as well as sanding. Using a wire wheel, I got dips in the aluminum and it wasn't too shiny. It is silver colored, yes, but it is not like a mirror-type finish. I would personally just do a little extra work and sand it/buff it to polish it. If you want pics of my forks after wirewheeling and after sanding/buffing, I'll post them for you.

Well, I sanded/filed the old paint off, then washed it really well, sanded some more and then used NEVER DULL to make it a little shiney.

I took the throttle housing and it was fine, except had little speckels of white paint so I sprayed it for a second with the black spray paint and it looks new.

I plan and spraying the handle bars with black just to cover a few blemishes.

I am ordering a new air filter, decals and a PRM Grab Bar (The standard one).

I am taking the gas tank off of the other 250SX which does not run, but has good parts in good condition.

And as for the foot pegs/clutch/kick start, I looked and they are fine.

SO I am pretty much all set unless someone has a nice grab bar or air filter to sell me.
