my honda specs manual says 10W40 but i think 10W30 is fine. after draining it the capacity is 2.2 quarts.

I recently joined TWW after buying an '85 250SX in poor shape, man what a blast to ride! I pulled my motor yesterday cos it has no 3rd gear, a buddy's going to replace a shift fork for me while I'm repairing/replacing stuff- Welcome!

I'd recommend using motorcycle or atv-specific oil, such as Honda GN4. Those oils have anti-shear additives to help stabilize the oil as it runs through the gearbox. Regular automotive oil will work, but I've always used the other stuff. Seems to last a lot longer and keep the motor cleaner inside. I'd recommend 10W40, especially in warmer weather.

A couple ounces of lucas oil additive in there with your oil won't hurt. ;)

Got pics? :)
