My new 84 Yammahauler

Well howie and I went to Michigan to pick up a couple 84 yammahauler 200E's. One has some minor issues on the bottom engine area and the other (one I got) has minor cosmetic issues. I need to find a rear mud flap, seat cover and a few other things. Well I am totally stoked on having a Yammer cuz I have never had a Yam untility, only a tri-z. It's gonna be a cool addition to my fleet.

How do these suckers do in trails/mud??

They're awesome in the mud, a little bumpy on the trails.
I had mine in water up to the rear fenders and the front starts floating up, almost flips ya backwards.

They wheelie like crazy too, the motor is placed so far back in the frame.

Nice looking bike though, I think you'll like it, hopefully everything on yours doesnt break once like mine.

Hey Scott, how would you compare the size of that Yamaha to a Big Red? Do you have any pics of them next to each other? I've never seen both side by side before..

I would say they are the size of a 185s/200s with racks. Its fun to putt around on. I will have to get a pic tomorrow after work since its dark and cant see now.

Oh ok cool man, does that go for the 225DX as well or is it closer to big red size? I think the only other trike ever made that was larger than big red was that Taurus one..

Yeah the DR/DX are closer to the big red size. This one is "cute" as my wife says. In fact she has now claimed it as hers haha. Now I just need to get her riding more and its all good.

I would say that the 225dx is about the size of a SX, maybe alittle smaller.

The 250 Big Red is huge compared to the yamahauler. It's a lot wider.

I'd get a pic but my hauler doesnt have a rear end right now (broken) so it's hard to tell.

I guess a 200 Big Red and a 200 hauler would be a better comparison though.

Well actually I really want a 225 with reverse, I want one like yours. I have always loved the blue ones bad. But the black and gold ones are rare and cool too.

I love the way that black&gold special ed. 225DX looks....my cousin had one back in the day, if he still had it I would def. try to get it from him.

Wow that looks to be in great shape. We had one just like that, 83 shaftie and you could put it anywhere. Mud wasn't an issue, rough trails weren't the most fun at speed but it would go anywhere, usually towing a load of logs.

Pat, here is some pics of it with my 110 and the big red. I believe its close to the 200 big red or 185 size. The rear end is pretty narrow too. But I tell you what...talk about wheeling, man just lean my big tail back and hit the gas.

nice addition to your collection. i had a friend with a 200 yamaha and it was an great water,mud runner. i believe if i make any more additions to my collection they will be utility types. i don't have near as much headache getting parts for my hardtails as i do my r's.:)

Hey Scott, thanks for showing those comparison pics of the bikes. Yeah I'd have to agree, the big red is definitely the widest and largest out of them. The Yami does look taller in some ways though.
