what was the engine that was in the 200r and what did it take to get it into the frame? i think i might like to build a two stroke into a 200x frame and make a racer. i think it would be quite killer to get a 200cc two stroke in an x frame, extend the swinger and axle and put some flat track tires on it

200r Was a de-bored (sleved) 250r Motor, there where also Specfic built 200 top ends for it, a hear a 125 Motor in a 200x MOVES....

Also some factory ones had a MTX200 in it.

If it was me ... (Ya ya dont mix brands but wtv .. ) I'd put a blaster motor in it .. once you get it in and start feel like you want more power... its 240 time, that would haul ass! :w00t:

Someone on the forums here has one, I remember seeing the pictures of it. From what people who raced have said, they were pretty much custom built machines, way more so than 250rs were. The 200r was the machine to race.

i want to make it semi easy, just altering the mounts or something, but i do want a two stroke motor, i was readin on 3ww main site about how they factory ones had MTX200 motors like he said above me, what and where are these motors from.

well from my understanding, they were from euro motors. If i were you, i would use a KXT200 motor or a KTM200 motor. Both 200cc two strokes puttin out major power.

I was thinking of a similar swap. I found a couple of MTX 200 motors. The problem is that they’re not in this country. The MTX was never imported into the United States. I found one in running condition in Germany

It was on e-bay and it was the whole bike. I contacted the guy and ask him if he would tear it down and send me the motor, carb, electronics, pipe, radiators and the tank. He was ok with it. I found out what UPS was wanting for shipping and it killed the deal. The bike only brought $460 US. But it was going to cost me $670 - $720 for shipping. UPS said I was also going to have to pay for customs.

I haven't been able to find one at a reasonable price in the United States to make it possible.

I do like the idea. I thought I'd use the tank from the MTX

Maybe you should take others advice and put a KDX in the X frame and build a Kawasaki, paint it green. Green T-3 fenders maybe???? Blaster.... DON"T waste your time. If that’s the case just stick in an air cooler '81 to '84 250R motor (then why not just keep the R motor in the R and have a better machine).

Ideas are endless... but money, time and practicality have their limits.

why would anyone want to build a 250r with a smaller engine? its not like there is a 200cc class out there for you to race in. a real old school 200c flatracker would be cool to find but crazy to build.

that being said try putting a cr500 in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

actually they have a 0 to 230cc class in district 6 eastern PA. it has to be air cooled though. i biult a 89 quadracer with a blaster engine in it to race that class.

there was a couple trx250r's with blaster engines also.

so they allow 3 wheelers?

they dont let 3wheelers. just letting people know since most AMA sactioned districts dont have it. it was to seperate 200x's from 350x's back when you could still race them in the AMA. now it's for blaster and the occasional quapsport.

This same point was addressed before when somebody was looking for a 200R cylinder. The 200's were made to compete within class limitations, not because sleeving them down made it faster than a 250r! Its pointless to build one today beacuse if you bring it to Trikefest, youll still be running two stroke open!

As for a 240 Blaster engine, in a 200X frame...... why? Start with the inferior chassis of the 200x (compared to 250r), put in a smaller motor that is aircooled, big bore or stroke it to 240cc and you end up with a very expensive 250 class machine with an inferior chassis, inferior suspension setup, and an inferior motor to what you could probably buy for a lot less money - a 250R.

And even with the bigbore blaster motor the R would still hand it its own ass.

i just like the idea of it. i dont race or anything but if i could find a 200cc two stroke to fit into the 200x i think it would probably rip (not as fast as the 250r of course), being a smaller and lighter machine than the 250r, if you read i wasnt trying to make a 200r i was just interested in the motor, to see how it would mount up in the 200x frame, knowing that it was a 200cc two-stroke. i dont really want to mix brands so thats why i was wondering what motor was in the 200r.

Yeah I would put a blaster motor in the 200x. I think most people just want something different. A blaster motor in a R frame would be coom too.:naughty:
