air filter set up on a 86 atc250r?

ive seen diffrent set ups of the air filter systems.. with the pvc pipe and an air filter at the end, like they have on the cars( honda's :0)... some people say to cut holes inside the stock airbox..? im already running it with the lid off... what do u people reccomend?

Id recommend rejetting the carb if your running it with the lid off, its gotta be running too lean like that.

I have been running mine like that (PVC) for years without incident. Keep in mind that bike only gets ridden on the ice and at the dunes, I did ride it once in the Pine Barrens like that and the first puddle put me on the tow strap. I am going back to the stock box with no lid and the front rubber boot removed. My buddy's R is set up like that and his was just as fast as mine, until I went 330 on him and ChrisD. :twisted: Sorry Chris, I had to do it!!
