ok, so i'm an idiot. I threw all the bearings from my steering stem away (85 350x), thinking that they were supposed to be encased in something and I would just buy the set. From the diagrams on bikebandits, it looks like I just have to buy a handfull of ball bearings and put in there? If so I am sure I can find them much cheaper than 57 cents a piece. What have you guys done before?

Go to the local bulk bearing supplier and buy them there......

Dennis kirk sells replacement kits where the bearings are captive. Think the brand is All Balls. Put a set in 350x & it works great. You have to knock the inner races out of the frame tho. The aftermarket is totaly different than stock. think whole set was about 35 bucks. Hope this helps.
